Yes, celebrities have periods, too, and often on days when they must perform at 100%. So how do athletes, actresses, models and other performers manage their periods when they are on the world stage? In this article we share the celebrity period product picks that help prevent leaks and feel most secure when top performance is critical. They may tip you off to an option you haven't tried before.
Jennifer Lopez: Custom-made Pants

Having a hard time holding it together on period days while at your job? Imagine how Jennifer Lopez handles her periods while on tour. Her hip-shaking, body-rolling, booty-bouncing performances while wearing revealing costumes demands that she feel confident and secure against gushes and leaks.
How does she do it? She doesn’t publicly disclose her methods, but Tik Tok videos reveal her secrets; she wears custom-made skin-tone tights designed with high-tech fabric and a plastic wrap-like inner lining that absorbs and prevents blood from reaching the outer fabric. She pairs this with a tampon, which she can reach through an inconspicuous zipper in the pants. It is believed that Jennifer paid thousands of dollars for the creation of her high-performance period pants. But her investment allows her the physical freedom she needs to perform without worry.
Kristen Bell: Period Panties

Most of us avoid wearing white while on our periods. But TV actress Kristen Bell is confident enough to wear white while on set shooting her scenes. Kristen swears by period panties, because she doesn’t like the bulkiness of pads or the leakage of tampons. She discovered Knix panties 10 years ago and that has been her go-to period product ever since. “I was surprised by how comfortable they are,” she explained in an interview with Refinery 29. She’s also enthusiastic about their environmental sustainability.
In a scene being shot for her television series, Nobody Wants This, she was outfitted in a white dress, but she knew her panties would spare her any leakage and enabled her to focus on her best delivery. In 2025, Kristen was a spokesperson for the Knix “You’re Good” campaign. As part of the campaign, Knix has committed to donating $100,000 USD to a period-focused organization of Bell's choosing.
The Indiana Fever, WNBA: Newly-designed Tampon

Jumping, running and fancy footwork demand focus without distraction. So, on game day (and every day), players on the Indiana Fever Women's National Basketball Association team turn to the Sequel Spiral tampon. This new evolution of tampons was engineered by Stanford University graduates Amanda Calabrese and Greta Meyer. As former athletes themselves, Amanda and Greta view period care products as essential equipment for athletes.
Regular tampons are designed with straight grooves in the cotton, which absorbs the blood, but can leak with heavy bleeding. The Sequel Spiral is designed with diagonal grooves that spiral down the product, making it more absorbent and less likely to leak. This helps athletes to stay focused on the game, rather than worry about leaking blood on their clothing. During practice and through official games, Sequel Spiral tampons are available in the locker room, assuring each Indiana Fever player performs her best.
Áine Curran: Menstrual Cup

As a theatre Performer, the show must go on! Áine Curran swears by menstrual cups. As a stage actor, and a star in Mamma Mia UK & International Tour, managing her periods was challenging. She suffers from heavy bleeding, and when on stage, engages in multiple costume changes. Upon discovering menstrual cups, her world changed. “It was so easy to get the hang of it and I was so surprised that I couldn’t feel it,” she explained in an interview. I honestly felt my world had changed. It makes periods hugely more bearable.”
Menstrual cups can stay inserted up to three-times longer than tampons and hold more fluid, making it more convenient while on stage and on tour, especially on heavy bleeding days. Plus, they’re reusable and reduce environmental waste. Now Áine shares her insights while in the dressing room – where she learned about the menstrual cup from her peers.
Victoria Cain: Tampon

Though we may not think it, fashion models also face challenges on period days. To avoid panty lines while wearing designer outfits, model Victoria Cain must wear thongs, thus she uses tampons during her periods. In an interview with Cosmopolitan Magazine, Victoria confessed, “pads aren't an option – it's tampons only. Luckily my periods are really light and only last around three days." Leaking onto the clothing is a constant concern during photo shoots and runway shows. Victoria usually carries extra tampons, but in one instance she was caught off guard without protection. On a photo shoot with male photographer, director and stylist (who likely would not have a tampon), Victoria faked a cigarette break and ran to a shop to buy a box. These days, she always carries extras and is willing to share with other models who need help.
Scout Forsythe: Menstrual Cup

Pirouettes while on her period was once a concern Scout Forsythe, a dancer with the American Ballet Theater Corps. But her menstrual cup helps her feel confident and secure during her stage performances. In an interview in Pointe Magazine, Scout explains that at one time she relied on tampons, but found that she needed to change them frequently. This was a hassle while in costume. Menstrual cups hold more fluid than tampons (generally between 20 to 60 milliliters of fluid, versus 5 milliliters a regular tampon can absorb), so she can leave her cup in longer. And because the cup forms a vacuum seal against the vaginal walls (when inserted properly), leaks are prevented. Scout inserts her cup before she performs and feels comfortable and confident as she performs a Grand Adage to dazzle her audience.
America Ferrera: Period Panties

Whether on set for a television show or movie, America Ferrera is a lover of period underwear because they’re comfortable and sustainable. And they resist leakage. According to The Period Company, maker of period underwear, some styles of their panties "absorb nine tampons worth of flow.” America posted on social media that she loves The Period Company, because in some campaigns the company gives panties to women who need period products. Period poverty is a global crisis, and lack of access to the products often prevents girls from attending school, sports and work. America is an activist for women’s rights and environmental conservation, it's no wonder these panties are her faves.
